Letter from HOWLS regarding the future of Hay Library:
Dear Clyro Community Council
You are probably aware that Powys County Council is proposing to cut the funding for staff at 11 of the 18 libraries in the county. This includes cutting the Librarian at Hay Library.
Although we have a number of great volunteers at Hay Library, we will not be able to guarantee the long term future of Hay Library without the professional support of the library staff who provide a vital link with the central library service and whose knowledge and advice on a range of issues including information about housing, jobs and benefits are invaluable.
Hay Library is well used and well loved and serves a much wider area than just Hay, with users coming in from your community in Clyro.
Powys is holding a drop in session at Hay Library on Monday 4th February from 10am to 12 noon to hear the views of local people and we would appreciate it if you could publicise this to your residents.
HOWLS will also be discussing the best way forward at our next meeting on Wednesday 20th February 7pm in Hay Library and we would very much like to invite members of Clyro Community Council to attend.
